BSA Training - How to get credit for taking it

BSA Training

How to take required online training courses.

1. Go to: MyScouting.org (For best performance, use Internet Explorer 7.0 and
above or FireFox 3.0 and above.)
2. Click E-Learning.
3. From the General tab, scroll down to a specific training course
and click Take Course.

How to check to see if the Council has record of all of the online and live training courses you have completed.

1. Go to: MyScouting.org (For best performance, use Internet Explorer 7.0
and above or FireFox 3.0 and above.)
2. Click on Training Validation
3. Enter your username or Personal ID number

How To Get Credit for Training you have previously taken online at MyScouting.org:

1. Go to: MyScouting.org, (For best performance, use Internet Explorer 7.0 and
above or FireFox 3.0 and above.)
2. Click on My Profile, and enter your council (Grand Canyon Council) and your member ID number: *

This links your MyScouting - E-Learning training records to your BSA membership.

* If you have not received a membership card and you want to link your training to your BSA membership, your unit leader can access a current roster of unit leaders via the Internet Advancement Website and he can retrieve your ID number. It might take up to a month from when you register before you will appear as an adult leader on the unit roster.

How To Get Credit for Training you have taken at a live training course:

1. Go to: Grandcanyonbsa.org (Council Website)
2. Click on TRAINING, located on the menu on the left side of the page. (Do not click on any of the drop down menus that appear to the right of TRAINING, just click on TRAINING. A “Training” page will appear. At the top you will find a light blue box labeled, “TAKE THE ONLINE TRAINING SURVEY”. Click on that box.

Fill out the form (* indicates a required field). Remember you are in the Four Peaks District. Click on Continue. Fill in the dates you took “This Is Scouting”, Fast Start Training, Youth Protection Training, and Leader Specific Training. Next to the date, indicate if it was Cub Leader, Scout Leader, Varsity Leader, Venture Leader). If you have not completed all of the asterisked courses just enter “Not completed”. Click on Continue. Fill in the dates of any Supplemental Training you have taken. Click on complete form.

This information will be sent to the Council and they will imput it into their database and it will appear on the Training Validation summary on MyScouting.org. Depending on how busy the data imputers are, it may take a while for this to appear. It is a good idea to keep a personal record of all of your training.
